Due to construction associated with the Yolo Superior Courthouse project located at 1000 Main St, Main Street will be CLOSED to all traffic between East and Fifth Streets from March 23 to May 4, 2015. Businesses will remain open during construction with detour routes posted to assist with business access. The Woodland Police Department urges the public to be careful of a current phone scam. As of March 26, 2015 there have been a number of reports taken for a kidnapping scam in Woodland. The suspect will call using a blocked phone number and claim to have kidnapped a family member. They will demand a sum of money for the victim. The suspect will also threaten to harm the victim if the police are called and the money is not delivered. The suspects in these incidents seldom have specific information regarding the victim.
If you receive a call of this type please stay calm, write down all of the details of the call, confirm all family members are safe and call the Woodland Police at 530-661-2411 to report it. Do not give out any personal information, bank information or pay a ransom.
