Fire Plans Review & Inspections

The Fire Prevention Division of the Woodland Fire Department partners with the community to provide plan review services for both new and existing construction projects. Services include the review of designs and installation of automatic fire sprinkler and fire alarm. The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for ensuring these projects adhere to code requirements regulating the safety of people who will occupy the building or area.

Fire Investigation

Personnel from the Fire Prevention Division, Operations Division, and Police Department conduct our Fire Investigations. We work very closely with the Police Department on fires determined to be arson.

Residential Sprinklers

When properly maintained, automatic fire sprinklers are extremely reliable. Automatic sprinkler systems are recognized as the most reliable of all fire protection devices in controlling or extinguishing a fire at an early stage. The presence of an automatic sprinkler system enhances life safety of building occupants and reduces the loss of property.

KNOX-BOX® Program

A KNOX-BOX® is a secure key vault that is installed on the exterior of a building near the main entrance. This box contains building keys or key cards to provide access for the fire department in emergency situations without resorting to forced entry and potential damage to property. The fire department maintains master keys for the Knox boxes in secure locations.

Weed Abatement

The Fire Prevention Division conducts Weed Abatement inspection(s) to ensure all dry vegetation, weeds, rubbish and other fire hazards have been removed from your property in accordance with the City's Weed Abatement Ordinance.

Fire Permit & Safety Inspections

In constructed buildings, we conduct maintenance inspections to help ensure that a reasonable degree of fire safety exists. Fire Prevention Specialist and Suppression crews conduct Fire Inspections. We work in partnership with building and business owners to help us with this process.
