Deputy Chief Derrek Kaff joined the Woodland Police Department as a patrol officer on July 17, 2000. He was appointed to the position of Corporal in August of 2002 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in August of 2003 in the Patrol Division. He has also served as the Professional Standards Division Sergeant, assistant team leader of the SWAT team, Bike Patrol Sergeant and as a Lieutenant, he served as the SWAT Team's Tactical Commander. He is an instructor with the Department in a variety of training areas.
Deputy Chief Kaff received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Arizona State University. He has also graduated from the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute in March 2005, California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Command College in 2014 and California POST Executive Development Course in 2015.
