Youth Public Safety Academy (YPSA)
The Woodland Youth Public Safety Academy is an eight-week training program, whose objective is to expose the student cadets to some very rewarding careers in public safety to include law enforcement and fire services. We place strong emphasis on self-respect, respect of others, teamwork and commitment to ones' goals. The academy is perfect for any Junior High School student who would like a challenge and to learn more about public safety. The leadership lessons they learn during the academy will last them a lifetime.
Woodland Youth Public Safety Academy is open for Junior High Students (7th and 8th grades).
Meetings will be held on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Mondays of each month. The meetings will be at the Woodland Police Department Public Safety Training Room (1000 Lincoln Avenue) and at the Woodland Fire Department Training Center (1556 Springlake Court) on a rotating basis. **Student Cadets must have their own transportation to and from meetings.
Each student cadet will be required to wear their academy t-shirt (which will be provided), pants and closed toed shoes to each meeting.
