Programming & Events
Fun at the library!
Here at Woodland Public Library we have lots of fun programs and events for kids! Check out our calendar and the information below!
Our current programming for kids includes:
An Afterschool Program that runs from September to mid-May every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesdays are Game Days, Wednesdays are Family Art and Craft Days, and Thursdays are Lego Club. Kids ages 5 to 12 are welcome to come and participate any time-no sign up necessary!
Minecraft Club meets weekly during the school year. Participants talk all things Minecraft, build worlds, tackle challenges, and of course, play the game! The club has limited space and requires registration. Contact Children's Librarian Abigail Craig at 530-661-5981 for more information or to be added to the wait-list.
Coding Classes taught by UC Davis students are offered throughout the year during UC Davis academic quarters. Kids learn how to code using online programs like Scratch and our new Dash and Dot robots from Wonder Workshop. The next batch of classes will be starting in October. Contact Children's Librarian Abigail Craig at 530-661-5981 for more information.
Weekly storytimes are available for kids of all ages. Storytimes include interactive songs and rhymes, movement, and of course, reading books!
Homework Help is available online as well as at the library during the school year on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. All children are welcome to come and receive free homework help from our teen volunteers. Look for info here in late summer about start dates for our library Homework Help program.
Special Programs & Events
Throughout the year we offer reading challenges or scavenger hunts through Beanstack. Login or register to find out about current programs which include the ongoing 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program.
Summer Reading Program
Every summer Woodland Public Library puts on a Summer Reading Program for all kids, teens and adults. In the Early Learners program, parents complete early literacy activities to earn a toy and a book for their child. For older children, they can read (or be read to) and participate in learning activities to earn prizes from a prize store and participate in an end-of-summer raffle. These incentives help boost reading and literacy activities during the summer, helping to keep minds learning year-round. We also feature free lunch for kids on weekdays as well as fun activities and performers for children during the summer program. All of the summer activities are free!
We have lots of other fun one-time events including a Halloween Party, a Holiday Party, the yearly Pet Show, the Peeps Diorama Contest, Touch-a-Truck, and more! Check the calendar to be updated on upcoming events!
