  1. Dive In Movie

    Come say goodbye to summer with movie experience like no other. The City of Woodland is hosting the Dive-In Movie on Friday, August 24 at the Charles Brooks Community Swim Center. Bring the family for a special outdoor viewing of the 2017 live-action “Beauty and the Beast”. Enjoy watching the movie under the stars on a pool float; or watch the movie from the deck or the lawn area. The pool opens for swimming at 7 pm and will remain open during the movie. The Dive In Movie is a free, family friendly event. Shortly after sundown, “Beauty and the Beast” will be shown on a giant 30-foot screen. Bring low-back chairs or blankets to sit on the deck and grass areas or a raft for the pool. Food, candy, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase. Charles Brooks Community Swim Center is located at 155 N. West Street. The Dive-In Movie is another event sponsored by Measure J.     Faith would like to hear you read a story! She is a wonderful, non-judgmental listener for beginning readers as well as more fluent readers. Faith is a very sweet, four-year old Australian Shepherd who loves kids and is a certified therapy dog. Come to the Children's Room at the library and choose a book to read to Faith, and her owner Theresa. She is there on the third Thursday of the month from 3:30-4:30.

    How to Solder: A Beginner's Guide Learning how to solder with proper soldering techniques is a fundamental skill every maker should master. In this tutorial we outline the basics of soldering irons, soldering stations, types of solder, desoldering and safety tips. Whether you're building a robot or working with Arduino, knowing how to solder will come in handy. Successful completion allows the patron to return to Square One during open shop hours to use this equipment. Participants must be 12 or older, bring a valid library card and ID, have a signed waiver on file, and wear close-toed shoes.

  3. Wet Felting Workshop

    August 19, 2018, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Woodland Public Library

    Come to Square One to learn about wet felting: the art of making wool roving into felt using water, soap, and some arm exercise. In this workshop you can make one wool vessel-- a bowl, a pouch, or a bag. Returning participants may try a different project of their own choosing. **Please bring an old towel and something to carry a wet towel and project home in.** This workshop has a limit of 8 participants and is first come, first served. A $5 material fee is due to the instructor at the start of the class. Participants will keep what they make. This workshop is for teens and adults ages 12 or older. Every participant needs to sign a waiver for Square One, or have one on file.

    An introduction to the 3D printers available in Square One. In this Basic Use and Safety course students will learn how to load filament, upload files for printing, and adjust basic print settings for optimal printer performance. Upon successful completion of this course students will be authorized to use the 3D printers during open shop hours in Square One. Students must wear close-toed shoes, bring a Woodland Public Library card in good standing, and a photo ID. All participants under the age of 18 must have a liability waiver signed by a parent or guardian in order to attend.
