|On the 7th of November 2012 at approximately 12:32am, Woodland Police Officers were dispatched to the Hallmark store - 375 W Main St - in the Raley's shopping center, for a report of a man who broke a pane of glass and climbed into the store.|
Upon arrival, officers could hear noise coming from within the store and saw one of the large panes of glass in the storefront had been broken in. A Woodland Police K-9 officer made an announcement for any person inside the store to make themselves known to the police. Having not received a reply to his request, the K-9 officer inserted his police service canine into the store. The K-9 officer and a second assisting officer also entered through the shattered window. Moments later, the police service dog apprehended and bit a male suspect and dragged him to the ground. After calling off his police service canine, the K-9 officer and his partner arrested and handcuffed 29 year old Drew Dean Biondo.
The interior of the Hallmark store was ransacked, and numerous merchandise displays were destroyed, thrown throughout the store, and numerous fragile pieces of merchandise were broken. The store owners responded to the scene and gave a preliminary estimate of at least $10,000 in damages.
Biondo, a Sacramento native and local transient, is on active CDCR parole out of Yolo County for arson. After his arrest, Biondo was taken to Woodland Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and medically cleared for booking at the county jail. Biondo was booked for burglary, violation of parole, and obstructing or delaying an officer. He is being held without bail.
