|On Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at approximately 10:34am, Woodland police officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Howard Drive for a suspicious circumstance. A neighbor reported that two males ran from the backyard of a residence after trying to break into it. Responding officers located a vehicle leaving the area and conducted an investigative stop. Surjit Singh, a 21-year-old Woodland resident, and Israel Rodriguez, a 20-year-old Woodland resident were contacted. Through investigation it was determined that Singh and Rodriguez had smashed a rear window to a residence and had run from the backyard.|
Singh was on Post Release Community Supervision. In accordance with the current realignment of CDCR inmates and their release into the community, non-violent offenders such as Singh were granted early release and placed on Post Release Community Supervision where they are supervised by county probation departments.
Singh was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for attempted burglary and violation of the terms of his Post Release Community Supervision. Rodriguez was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for attempted burglary and violation of probation. No bail was granted to either subject.
