On 01-30-13 at approximately 1706 hours, Woodland Police officers were dispatched to a domestic violence incident at an apartment on the 400 block of Third St. Prior to arrival the victim stated the suspect owned firearms and another victim reported the suspect brandished a firearm. When the first officers arrived on scene they heard a single gunshot come from the suspect's apartment. A perimeter was set up and citizens in the immediate area were moved out of the area prior to making an attempt at calling the suspect out. After several attempts two males exited the apartment and were detained. They were the only occupants of the apartment other than an infant child.
After further investigation a rifle was recovered from the apartment and 22 year old Woodland resident, Miguel Licea, was arrested. Detectives learned Licea and the mother of his child were in a verbal altercation and he would not let her into the apartment. He battered the victim and brandished a rifle when a neighbor attempted to help the victim into the apartment. Licea was taken to the Yolo county Jai l where he was booked for domestic violence battery and brandishing a firearm.
Nobody was shot or injured during this incident.
