|Contact :||Anthony Cucchi, Lieutenant, Woodland Police Departmemnt (530)661-7816|
|Today, September 5, 2013, at 08:49 am, Woodland Police Officers responded to the Target Store located at 2185 Bronze Star Dr regarding a possible theft in progress.|
As the first officer arrived in the area and store employees directed him toward a 2003 Silver Honda Civic leaving the parking lot. The driver and sole occupant of the Honda brandished a handgun at the officer and fled out of the parking lot, northbound on County Road 102. The driver was later identified as Teddy Chuang, a 37 year old Davis resident. The officer started pursuing Chuang and was eventually joined by other Woodland Police personnel. The pursuit continued through the City of Woodland and onto State Highway 113 South towards Davis. Chuang continued to make threatening hand gestures while pointing his firearm in the air.
The pursuit was taken over by the California Highway Patrol near Dixon after Chuang merged on to I-80 West. Woodland Officers assisted in the pursuit to its conclusion at the entrance gates to Travis AFB in Fairfield. Officers from the Fairfield Police Department, USAF Military Police, and the California Highway Patrol assisted in the arrest of Chuang. Chuang however was not compliant and subdued with the use of a Taser, prior to being taken into custody.
Once Chuang was detained it was determined that the weapon he was in possession of was a realistic looking toy gun. Chuang was taken into custody and will be charged with Robbery, Burglary, and Felony Evading. It is not known why Chuang was attempting to flee to Travis AFB and at the time of this release. It is not evident that Chuang is a member of the United States Air Force.
