|On November 11th, 2013 at approximately 1930 hours, the Woodland Police Department, the Woodland Fire Department and AMR ambulance personnel responded to the area of East Gibson Rd and the northbound Hwy 113 off ramp for a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a mini-van with unknown injuries.|
Upon arrival, Woodland Firefighters were treating the solo motorcyclist for major injuries. The two occupants of the mini-van were not treated for any injuries. The motorcyclist was identified as Devon Bell, 27 years of age from Sacramento. The motorcyclist was transported by ground ambulance for life-threatening injuries he sustained from the collision to the U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. At the time of this press release the motorcyclist condition was critical and it is unknown if alcohol was involved.
Woodland Police Officers received information from witnesses that the motorcyclist and an unknown subject in an unknown vehicle were racing at high speeds westbound on East Gibson Rd. from Pioneer Rd. The unknown vehicle passed the minivan in the #2 lane of East Gibson Rd. near the intersection of Hwy 113 at a high rate of speed and continued westbound. The motorcyclist was in the #1 lane at a high rate of speed and tried to pass the mini-van in the #2 lane but collided into the back of the mini-van. Witnesses estimated the motorcyclist and the unknown vehicle to be traveling at speeds of 60-70 mph in a 45 mph zone. Both the mini-van and motorcycle were towed away from the collision scene.
