On Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at approximately 20:25 hours, Woodland Police Officers were dispatched 1180 Matmor Rd for a suspect who brandished a pistol. The suspect, later identified as 35 year old Woodland resident Robert Anthony Aragon, fled the area in a Dodge Caravan. Officers located the Dodge traveling northbound on East Street near Gum Avenue. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the Dodge; however, Aragon failed to yield to the officer’s signal to stop and used evasive driving tactics to avoid capture. During the pursuit, Aragon collided into two parked vehicles located on McKinley Avenue north of Cross Street. Aragon fled the scene of the collision on foot. A perimeter was quickly established and officers from West Sacramento and the California Highway Patrol assisted in a yard to yard search. Aragon was located and arrested without further incident in a side yard of a residence located on the 600 block of West Street.
Aragon was booked at the Yolo County Jail for brandishing a firearm, felony vehicle evasion, vehicle hit & run, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm in a moving vehicle, felon in possession of ammunition, and resisting arrest.
