Mission Statement: Community Development Department - to preserve the past while shaping the future to provide a safe, healthy, and attractive environment for growth.
The Community Development Department is responsible for planning, redevelopment, housing, building inspection, engineering, development engineering and code compliance for the City of Woodland. This includes administering the City's General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines; acting as support staff to the City Council, Board of Building Appeals, and Planning Commission on planning matters; and Traffic Safety Commission on traffic matters; administering the City's Building Code including the issuance of building permits and conducting inspections; issuance of business licenses; and ensuring compliance with City codes.  WOODLAND GATEWAY PHASE II PROGRAM EIR
On December 6, 2011 the City Council approved the Gateway II Project regarding: 1) Certification of the Woodland Gateway Phase II Program Environmental Impact Report (EIR); 2) Annexation Resolution; 3) Prezoning the site to General Commercial (C-2) and Agriculture (A-1); and 4) A General Plan Amendment to redesignate 61.3 acres of the site to General Commercial.

The Community Development Department is located in City Hall 300 First Street, Woodland, CA 95695. The Department's public counter is open 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday-Friday. Staff is available Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm by phone or appointment. The office is closed on all legal holidays.
