Julie Gallelo joined the Woodland Literacy Council in 2005 and has been an active board member, serving terms as both President and Secretary throughout the last nine years. She is the Executive Director of First 5 Yolo Children's and Families Commission. Julie's background is primarily in public administration and community development, where she has been working in a variety of programs for the last 20 years. In her position at First 5 Yolo, Julie works to ensure that children in Yolo County are healthy and ready to learn by the time they reach kindergarten. Early literacy is a personal priority for Julie and one that her Commission fully backs. First 5 Yolo invests over $1 million per year for early care and education throughout the county for young children and their families. Julie earned a Bachelor's degree in psychology and a Master's degree in public health from San Diego State University. She lives in Davis with her husband and two daughters.
