The City of Woodland Environmental Services Branch is offering residents and businesses $100 rebates for the purchase of plant-based mulch for use in landscaping. A good mulch can conserve water by significantly reducing moisture evaporation from the soil. Mulch also helps maintain healthy plants by moderating soil temperature, which keeps their roots cooler in summer and warmer in winter. In addition, it helps prevent soil compaction and reduces weed populations. The State of California’s Save Our Water Project estimates that mulch can save 20 to 30 gallons of water per 1,000 square feet each time you run irrigation.
The rebate is for a maximum of $100 per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Only mulch purchased after July 1, 2015 qualifies for this rebate. Only plant-based mulch (e.g., bark, wood chips, hulls) will be eligible for the rebate, mulch must be installed to a minimum three-inch depth, and mulch must be installed before the rebate will be given.
The City of Woodland Water Conservation Program will be offering rebates during the current fiscal year for rain barrels (two rebates allowed per property). The rebates will be in the amount equal to the purchase price or $75, whichever is less. The rebates are offered to city residential and commercial water customers.

The City of Woodland Water Conservation Program will be offering a $150 rebate for weather-based irrigation controllers (WBICs) and a $25 rebate (or the purchase price, whichever is less) for rain sensors this fiscal year.
