Food For Fines

December 6, 2016

FOOD FOR FINES

For more than 20 years, Woodland Public Library has been offering fine waivers in exchange for food donations around the holidays. This program, Food for Fines, has collected thousands of pounds of nonperishable food to donate to the Food Bank of Yolo County. In past years, the library has forgiven one dollar of overdue fines for each item donated. This year, WPL is offering double credit on especially needed items such as cereal, spices, feminine hygiene products, baby care items, toiletries, socks, shelf stable milk, and protein (peanut butter, tuna, etc). Items for $1 or $2 of overdue credit can be brought to the circulation desk at the Woodland Public Library from November 26 – December 23, 2016. Only overdue fines are eligible for this program. We encourage our patrons to take advantage of this opportunity to give back to their community while supporting the library.

Take Action to Protect Your Water Supply

January 21, 2014
Woodland is currently asking water customers to voluntarily cut back water use by 20% in order to prevent potential future water shortages. 2014 is starting out as the third dry year in a row. The Governor has delcared a drought emergency. Little or no rain means the City has less groundwater to pump, and pumping water to deliver to homes and businesses becomes more expensive. As the demand for water increases during the summer months, we could face a shortage in water supplies. For tips on conserving water both indoors and outdoors, please visit www.cityofwoodland.org/waterconservation.
