New Medication Disposal Kiosk at the Woodland Police Department

December 1, 2016

Safely dispose of unneeded medications in the new medication disposal kiosk at the Woodland Police Department (1000 Lincoln Avenue). The kiosk is located in the Police Department lobby, which is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The following items may be disposed of in the kiosk:

  • Pill and liquid medications
  • Medicated ointments and lotions
  • Pet medications

The kiosk is sponsored by Yolo County in an effort to prevent improper disposal and unauthorized use of pharmaceuticals.

Items that are restricted from disposal in the kiosk, but are accepted for proper disposal at Yolo County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Drop-Off Days include sharps (needles and syringes), mercury thermometers, and vitamins.

Additionally, non-controlled medications and other HHW items are accepted at Yolo County HHW Drop-Off Days, which occur every Friday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Yolo County Central Landfill (44090 County Road 28H) in Woodland. Senior and disabled Yolo County residents may schedule a free pick-up of household hazardous waste items by calling (530) 666-8856.
