Commit2Fit: Wellness Program Returns to the Library


Woodland Public Library will be hosting a free 3-month Commit2Fit: Wellness Program January through March 2017. The Library starts its second annual Commit2Fit: Wellness educational series on health on January 7 with weekly community walks at Douglass Park and bimonthly presentations on wellness and fitness. Each month will feature a talk on an aspect of mindfulness and a session of gentle exercises to kickstart or enhance your exercise routine.

All Wednesday evening programs will be from 6-7:30 pm in the Leake Room of the Woodland Public Library, located at 250 First Street in Woodland.


The Wednesday evening speaker schedule is:


January 11:    “Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction” with Denise Dempsey


January 18:    “Yoga for Every Body” with Karen Klussendorf


February 1:    “Clutter Busting: Letting Go of What’s Holding you Back” with author Brooks Palmer


February 15: “Stretch-Strengthen-Breathe” with Cynthia Frueh


March 1:         “Self- Care & Balance: What I Didn’t Learn in Medical School” with Dr. Karen Mo


March 15:       ” HoopDance Happiness” with Allison Miller

Starting January 7, there will also be community walks each Saturday in January, February and March, from 9-10 am at Douglass Park, on the corner of Road 98 and El Dorado Street in Woodland. Commit2Fit:Wellness is made possible with funds from the Friends of the Woodland Public Library, and is an educational component of the City of Woodland’s Commit2Fit Challenge.
