Woodland Celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Let’s join together to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and to pay tribute to his vision of cooperation, collaboration and peace. The City of Woodland plans to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day in style during an event that will commemorate his birthday with a community celebration including a teen art show.

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration is scheduled for Monday, January 16th. The art show starts at 4:30 pm and the ceremony at 5:30 in Heritage Plaza at the corner of Main and Second streets.  The event will focus on Martin Luther King Jr.’s message of peace and a celebration of community solidarity.

In a partnership with the Yolo Conflict Resolution Center and the Woodland Public Library, teens can participate in the Peace of Art Workshop on Saturday, January 14 from 9 am to 12:30 pm. Teens are invited to learn in a fun and interactive ways to healthy resolutions for everyday conflicts. Participants of the workshop will create artwork that represents what they have learned, the artwork will be displayed during the Community Celebration at Heritage Plaza on January 16.
