Aquatic Feasibility Study Public Meeting

February 1, 6:00 pm at Community & Senior Center

January 9, 2017

The City of Woodland Community Services Department will be holding a public meeting at the Woodland Community and Senior Center located at 2001 East Street Woodland, CA 95776 on February 1, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. as part of the City of Woodland Aquatic Center Feasibility Study. The Aquatic Center Feasibility study will analyze the need, cost, and potential location of an Aquatic Center within the City.

In July 2016, the City Council authorized a contract for Aquatic Design Group to conduct a feasibility study to evaluate the current unmet aquatic needs and future needs in the city. The proposed study was also to include a site assessment of three possible pool locations (Community & Senior Center, Community College, and Spring Lake) to test the capacity and feasibility of each site for a future aquatic center.

A public meeting was held in September to obtain input from community members on the types of aquatic features the public would like to have included in a future aquatic center (size of pool, type of pool, various uses, etc.). Several concepts that included aquatics centers which could be constructed in phases were reviewed by staff with the consultant. Staff also held a meeting with a pool citizen committee to review initial concepts presented by the consultant.

Draft concepts for aquatic center designs (to include recreational and family amenities) will be shown to the public in order for the consultant to receive additional comments to further refine the ultimate recommendations. A summary of findings and recommendations will be presented to the City Council upon completion of the report.

This purpose of this meeting is to allow the residents of Woodland an opportunity to provide input on the future aquatic needs of Woodland. Residents will be able to provide input on the locations which are being considered, current unmet needs and future needs of aquatic facilities and programming for the City of Woodland.
