To commemorate and celebrate the life and work of labor and civil rights leader César E. Chávez, the City of Woodland will be hosting a celebration at Heritage Plaza on March 27 at 5:00 pm. Join the City of Woodland and fellow residents for this annual event that includes music, dance performances, singing, and guest speakers to celebrate the life and accomplishments of César Chávez. At the conclusion of the program, around 6:30 pm, march to the State Theater for an exclusive movie viewing of the “César Chávez” movie.
The program begins at 5:00 pm in Heritage Plaza and will consists of live music and dance performances; speakers for the event include: Marco Lizarraga, Director of La Cooperativa Campesina de California and Amagda Pérez, Executive Director of California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation. Music will be provided in Heritage Plaza from 6-7 pm creating a lively celebration. In addition, Las Brasas will be on hand selling tacos and salsas. After the program, march to the State Theater Multiplex for a free viewing of the movie “César Chávez” available for the first 100 people.
Families are encouraged to attend the event so children of all ages can learn about Chavez’s dedication to make life better for those working hard in agriculture. Crafts and games will be provided, as well as scholarship information for recreation programs including swimming lessons and summer camps.
