The City of Woodland, along with several partners, is hosting two grand openings of newly-constructed parks in the Spring Lake area on April 24 & 26.
Spring Lake Park, a 2-acre park located on the corner of Osborn Dr. and Shellhammer Dr., will have its grand opening event on Tuesday, April 24 at 5:30 pm. There will be children’s activities, free hot dogs and ice cream, a clown, and a short dedication. The event partner for this event is Lennar Homebuilders.
Spring Lake Park is located at 1904 Shellhammer Dr., which can be accessed from Farmers Central Dr., west of Harry Lorenzo Ave. It has a grass area, toddler playground, native planting mounds, and a small picnic area. This park was also designed by Callander and Associates, and was built by Procida Landscape.
Rick Gonzales, Sr. Park, a 10-acre park located on the corner of Miekle Ave. and Centennial Dr., will have a grand opening event for the public on Thursday, April 26 at 5:30 pm. There will be children’s activities, a presentation by the Gonzales family, and free tacos for the public. Event partners for this grand opening are Associated Engineering Consultants and the Gonzales family.
Rick Gonzales Sr. Park is located at 2109 Miekle Ave., south of East Heritage Parkway. It has a unique playground, group picnic area, restroom, a T-ball size backstop, soccer field, and a walking trail with fitness stations. This park is named after Rick Gonzales, Sr., who was a respected community leader in Yolo County for more than 50 years. The park was designed by Callander and Associates, and it was built by J.M. Slover Inc.
