Purchase your own shirts and support breast cancer awareness.
If you see a Woodland Firefighters wearing a pink uniform t-shirt during the month of October, don't be alarmed that the Department is moving away from its traditional blue uniform. October is breast cancer awareness month as coordinated by the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) organization, and members of the Woodland Fire Department will be allowed to honor those who have been affected by this form of cancer by donning pink t-shirts. Over 200,000 women and men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year and early screening is the key to survival. Bringing attention to breast cancer increases awareness and helps to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention and cure. Wearing pink for the month of October is the Fire Department's way of showing support for the cause that not only affects the community we serve, but everyway.
