Four more “Little Free Libraries” were installed last week in Woodland parks, making 6 Little Free Libraries in our community. These libraries are located at Ferns Park, Woodside Park, Beamer Park, City Park, The Senior and Community Center, and there is also one downtown in the courtyard behind Steve’s Pizza. Little Free Libraries are small free standing library boxes that contain a collection of books for the public to share. It is based on the honor system, Give a Book-Take a Book. The initial book collections were donated from the Friends of the Woodland Library and the Woodland Literacy Council. The Woodland Little Free Library project is sponsored by United Way, Friends of the Woodland Library, Meg and Tom Stallard, and the Library Board of Trustees. The library is looking for individuals who would be willing to be a steward of the “Little Free Library” in their neighborhood, by checking on the box and replenishing the collection with books from the Friends of the Library. Please contact the library at (530) 661-5980 if you are interested in being a steward for the library in your neighborhood.
