Water Wise Plant Event Planned at the Gibson House
Water wise plants will be offered for sale and the newly renovated herb garden will be self viewing with questions answered from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Gibson House Museum 512 Gibson Road, Woodland, on July 19th. Instructions on how to create and care for succulent gardens will be given at 10:00 a. m. Hundreds of herbs, succulents, native plants and flowering perennials which have been propagated by the volunteers are available for early summer planting. U. C. Master gardeners will be present to answer the public’s questions. Additionally at 10 a.m. attendees can take a workshop to learn how to make a succulent garden to take home. For a material fee of five dollars, patrons will be provide a six inch pot, the proper soil mix and at least five succulents of their choice along with instruction on care and fertilizing of drought tolerant plants.
Sign up sign up early for this 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. “Walk with Warren” a longtime Superintendent of UC Davis Arboretum will conduct walks among three historic trees on the grounds, one magnificent oak being over 300 years old.
Other events July 19 will be 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Docent led museum tours, blacksmith demonstrations, children’s games and activities, refreshments will be available.
