Have a Block Party for National Night Out!

July 23, 2014

On Tuesday, August 5, 2014, neighborhoods throughout Woodland are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 31st Annual National Night Out crime/drug prevention event.

From 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm the City of Woodland and the merchants at Woodland Gateway Shopping Center will host a kick-off party with free food and drinks. Police, Sheriff, CHP, and Fire vehicles and officers will be present. Kids games, raffles, and many giveaways will be in the Target parking lot. From 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm residents throughout the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Many neighborhoods throughout Woodland will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, ice cream socials, bike rodeos, parades, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anti-crime rallies.

Join us in giving a farewell party to crime and drugs!
