Fire Chief Tod Reddish attended a March of Dimes kick-off meeting on June 24 for the March for Babies Relay the organization hopes to bring to Woodland on September 26 at Pioneer High School (both date and location are tentative at this time). This event would be a 9-hour relay in a very similar, if not identical, format to the Relay for Life except that this event will start at 12 Noon and end at 9pm. The MOD hopes to raise $25,000 locally towards their efforts in research and prevention of premature childbirth and the significance of the 9 hours is that each unborn child and their mother need and deserve a full-term 9 month pregnancy in order to maximize the baby’s short-term and long-term health. March of Dimes organizers are looking for Woodland community members to work as volunteers to help organize and implement this event.
