General Election Information
The Clerk’s Office is responsible for the conduct of municipal elections. We provide nomination packets and general guidelines to those candidates interested in running for office. We accept all nomination packet filings and submit to the Yolo County Elections Office. You can view the Yolo Elections web page by clicking here.

The next General Municipal Election for the City will be held on November 8, 2022.  City Council Districts 1 and 3 are up for election. See the Woodland Council District Map for Council District locations.

Nomination Period
The candidate nomination period opens on Monday, July 18, 2022 and closes on Friday, August 12, 2022. If an incumbent does not file nomination papers by 5:00 PM on Friday, August 12, 2022, the nomination period will be extended until Wednesday, August 17, 2022.

Candidates must obtain and complete the official nomination documents issued by the Office of the City Clerk during the official nomination period.

City Council Resolutions
City Council Resolution No. 7938, A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Woodland Calling a General Municipal Election for the Election of Two Council Members By District, Calling a Special Election for the Purpose of Submitting a Measure to the Qualified Voters of a Proposed Ordinance Amending Section 2.04.300 of the Woodland Municipal Code to Allow City Council Salary to be Set at Five Hundred Dollars per Month and Allowing City Council Salaries to be set in the Future in Accordance with State Law and a Measure on the November 8, 2022 Regular Municipal Election Ballot for Submission to the Qualified Voters of a Proposed Ordinance Adding Chapter 3.36 to Title 3 (Taxation and Purchasing) of the Woodland Municipal Code, establishing a Tax on Cannabis Businesses Operating within the City of Woodland, said Elections to be held in the City of Woodland on November 8, 2022, and Directing the Consolidation of the Elections with the Statewide General Election and All Other Elections.
