The Housing Element is a section of the General Plan that is required by State law. The Housing Element addresses a local government's existing and projected housing needs of all economic segments of the community. The element must 1) identify these housing needs; 2) state the community's goals and objectives with regard to housing production, rehabilitation, and conservation to meet those needs; and 3) define the polices and programs that the community will implement to achieve the stated goals and objectives.
