Woodland is a special place; a unique community with a diversity of people, cultures, and businesses. It’s a beautiful place to visit and an even better place to live. After more than 22 years of working for the Woodland Police Department, it’s my honor to be the Chief of Police for this department and city that holds a special place in my heart. As a department, we pride ourselves on working with the community to meet the challenges of present-day law enforcement.
While the police department’s primary responsibility is reducing crime, we know it’s just as important to establish positive relationships with our community and invest in our youth. This is why we are constantly evolving our outreach efforts. I am proud of our programs including our monthly Policing 101 Classes, UNIDOS Spanish Language events, Explorers, Volunteers in Policing, and Coffee with a Cop. Each of these programs allows our staff to interact with the community in non-enforcement settings to build new relationships and strengthen existing ones.
Our current Strategic Plan has guided our growth and increased transparency for the department as a whole. This plan included significant public input and we continue to receive feedback through the Chief’s Advisory Board, Youth Police Advisory Council, and community meetings throughout the year.
I hope you enjoy searching our website, and if you have a commendation or complaint I welcome the chance to address it.
Sincerely,

Derrek Kaff, Chief of Police
