Microbusiness COVID-19 Relief Grant Open

On January 25, 2022, the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) awarded Yolo County grant funding to administer the Microbusiness COVID-19 Relief Grant Program (MBCRG). MBCRG aims to prioritize $2,500 grant funding for underserved small businesses. These businesses have faced historic barriers to accessing capital, including majority-owned and operated by women, minorities or persons of color, veterans, undocumented individuals, and individuals living in rural or low-wealth areas on low incomes.

Eligible microbusinesses are the smallest businesses that have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligibility requirements include:

  • Business had less than $50,000 in revenues in the 2019 tax year
  • Business began operations before December 31, 2019
  • Business currently has fewer than five full-time equivalent employees and had fewer than five full-time equivalent employees in the 2019 and 2020 tax years 
  • Business was significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Business is currently operating or has clear plans to reopen once permitted to do so
  • Business owner is the majority owner of the qualified business 
  • Business owner’s primary means of income in the 2019 taxable year was the business 
  • Microbusiness owner did not receive a grant under the California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program

Documentation to verify eligibility includes but is not limited to a local business permit or license, bank statement, tax return, or trade account. CalOBSA limits the eligible uses of funds to costs incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic and health and safety restrictions, such as business interruptions or business closures incurred due the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Applications are reviewed and processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. The program will be open through October 15, 2022, or until all available funds are distributed.

El 25 de enero del 2022, el California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) premio el Condado de Yolo con fondos para administrar el Microbusiness COVID-19 Relief Grant Program (MBCRG). El MBCRG apunta a priorizar a $2,500 en fondos de subvención para los negocios desentendidos. Estos negocios han enfrentado barreras históricas en accediendo capital, incluyendo los negocios que son principalmente operados y mayoritariamente la propiedad de mujeres, minoridades o personas de color, veteranos, individuos sin documentos, e individuos viviendo en áreas rurales o de bajos ingresos.

Los micronegocios elegibles son los negocios más pequeños que han sido significativamente impactados por la pandemia de COVID-19. Los requisitos de elegibilidad incluyen:

  • Negocios tuvieron menos de $50,000 en ingresos en el año 2019
  • Negocios empezaron operaciones antes del 31 de diciembre del 2019
  • Negocios tienen menos de cinco empleados a tiempo completo y tuvieron menos de cinco empleados a tiempo completo en 2019 y 2020

Documentación para verificar elegibilidad incluye, pero no se limita a un permiso o licencia local de negocio, extracto de cuenta, declaración de impuestos, o cuenta comercial. CalOSBA limita el uso de los fondos a costos incurridos debido a la pandemia COVID-19 restricciones, como interrupciones comerciales o cierres debido a la pandemia COVID-19.

Se revisa y procesa las aplicaciones en la orden de entrega. El programa estará abierto hasta el 15 de octubre del 2022, o hasta que se distribuyen todos los fondos disponibles.
