The City of Woodland Sustainability Advisory Committee (SAC) invites Woodland residents and business owners to participate in its inaugural Environmental Sustainability Community Input Meeting on Saturday, July 9 at the Leake Center, located on the basement floor of the Woodland Public Library at 250 First Street. The event runs from 1 - 3 PM for English speaking communities and 3:30 - 5:30 PM for Spanish speaking communities.
“The Environmental Sustainability Community Input Meeting is the best way for Woodland residents and stakeholders to express what environmental issues they are thinking about and feel the most affected by,” shared Allison Martin, a volunteer event organizer and SAC member. “Your feedback informs our process as an advisory body, ensuring our recommendations to the City Council reflects the needs and wants of our community while also helping to create a Woodland that is more sustainable, healthy, and resilient.”
Event organizers anticipate Woodland residents will come prepared to talk about a diverse range of environmental topics, including but not limited to: litter abatement, water quality and conservation, tree preservation, solar energy and electric vehicle programs, air quality, drought, and climate change. Still, committee members and City staff also hope to highlight some of the actions the City is already taking, including its Climate Action Plan, Urban Forest Master Plan, and organics recycling program, the latter of which was established in response to Senate Bill 1383, a measure to reduce short-lived greenhouse gasses generated by decomposing organic matter in landfills.
Registration for the event is strongly encouraged and can be completed online at tinyurl.com/envirowoodland, by contacting Martin at email@example.com, or by calling the City of Woodland Environmental Services Department at (530) 661-2059. Registration is available in both English and Spanish, and those who both register and attend are eligible to win sustainability-themed raffle prizes.
The Environmental Sustainability Community Input Event is fragrance free in order to create a safe and healthy place for everyone. Learn more about environmental sustainability and the SAC at envirowoodland.org.

About the Sustainability Advisory Committee (SAC)
The SAC was established in 2019 to help the City of Woodland achieve its state mandated conservation and Climate Action Plan (CAP) goals as well as provide recommendations to the City Council regarding local environmental policies and issues. A component of those responsibilities is to serve as a forum for public input and feedback on local environmental sustainability topics and CAP implementation. The SAC meets from 6 - 8 PM the third Wednesday of each month at the Woodland Community Center at 2001 East Street. Meeting agendas and meeting minutes can be found here and members of the public are welcome to attend. For more information about the SAC, visit envirowoodland.org.
