Tip of the Month

Your home’s temperature should change with the seasons.

If it’s too hot and muggy outside, set your air conditioner to 78 degrees when you're home and 85 degrees when you're away. When it starts getting cooler, set your heater to 68 degrees while you are home and 55 degrees at night or while you are away.

Smart trucks coming soon

Smart Trucks Coming November 1st

Waste Management will be begin the pilot program of its Smart Trucks on November 1st. The goal of this program is to reduce the amount of litter in our streets and contamination in our recycling and organics stream which can cause entire loads of recyclables/organics to be rejected and sent to the landfill! During the two month pilot, residents will receive warnings if their recycling or organics carts are contaminated and for any carts that are overfilled.

The program will go into full effect on January 1st. Residents who continue to contaminate or overfill their carts will start receiving fines after two additional warnings. For more information about how to avoid contamination and overfilled carts, visit www.WoodlandRecycles.com.

A Day Without Water

Imagine a Day Without Water

What would you do if you couldn’t turn on the tap and get clean drinking water, or if you flushed the toilet and wastewater didn’t go anywhere. What would that day be like?

Imagine a Day Without Water is the sixth annual day to raise awareness and educate others about the value of water. On October 21, everyone with a water story is invited to join in the effort. Tell us what is the value of water in your daily life? Share video, images, or
live-stream and use #ValueWater to participate.
