Tip of the Month

Deep fried turkeys are popular this time of year, but after cooking you are left with gallons of used oil. Never pour used oil down the drain, because it solidifies in the sewer and storm pipes. Instead, collect used cooking oil in sealed containers and take it to the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant for recycling. This service is FREE for Woodland residents. Call (530) 661-2057 or (530) 661-2058 for an appointment today.

Smart Truck Postponed

Smart Truck Program Postponed

The Waste Management Smart Truck program that was slated to start November 1 has been postponed until further notice. City officials and Waste Management are working to provide outreach and education on recycling properly and avoiding contamination to help Woodland reach its diversion requirements.
Illegal Dumping

Help the City of Woodland Combat Illegal Dumping!

Talk to your landscaper about what they do with your yard waste. Most landscapers take it to a composting facility, such as the Yolo County Landfill, but we suspect some landscapers are illegally dumping the yard waste in other parts of the city causing a nuisance for businesses, residents, and the City. To ensure your yard waste is composted and properly disposed of, ask for a copy of the weight slip/receipt that they receive from the facility.

If you see illegal dumping, report it at (530) 681-9212. Callers will remain anonymous.

Avoid Over-watering, Adjust your Irrigation Schedule Seasonally

As the weather gets cooler, and the days get shorter, your irrigation controller should also change with the end of daylight savings times. Be sure adjust your clock and irrigation system accordingly!

In addition, if you want to avoid watering your lawn when it rains then consider installing a Weather-Based Irrigation Controller. These smart controllers use weather data to automatically program the ideal watering schedule for your landscape. The City also offers a rebate up to $150! To apply and learn more about city rebates, click here.
