Spring Cleaning? Dispose of Household Hazardous Waste for Free!

Household hazardous waste (HHW) items are illegal to throw away in the trash and can pollute our environment if disposed of improperly. All Yolo County residents can dispose of HHW items for free every Friday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Yolo County Central Landfill. Yolo County senior citizens and disabled residents may schedule a free pick up of HHW items. For more information, visit YoloCounty.org/Landfill.

Earth Day is April 22

In honor of Earth Day, pledge to make environmentally friendly choices every day such as cultivating a pollinator friendly garden, giving up single-use plastics, or using less water! To help you on your journey, UC Davis is hosting a series of events in April for Earth Month 2021 including plant sales, a Zero Waste Workshop, and a virtual movie screening of David Attenborough’s A Life On Our Planet! Plant Sales at UC Davis Arboretum

Interested in reducing your outdoor water use with a water-wise yard? The UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden is holding an online plant sale in April and May. Come shop at their one-acre nursery filled with a variety of low-water, easy-care plants perfect for our region.

Propane Cylinder Exchange Event

Yolo County residents can receive a FREE reusable 1 lb. propane cylinder when they bring in an empty single-use 1 lb. propane cylinder or take a pledge at the Yolo County Propane Cylinder Exchange event! Limit one per household, while supplies last.
 
When: Saturday, April 24, 2021, 8 am – 1 pm
Where: Yolo County Landfill, 44090 County Road 28H, Woodland
 
When purchasing single-use 1 lb. propane cylinders, 80% of the cost is for the package. Reusable cylinders can be refilled hundreds of times for up to 10 years, which means less waste! For more information about reusable

FREE Compost at the Yolo
County Landfill! 

The Yolo County Central Landfill is offering free compost, made from the contents of organics recycling carts, to all Yolo County residents in April and May. Residents must fill their own buckets or bags with compost which will be available during the Landfill’s normal operating hours. Make sure to have proof of residency, wear a mask, bring your buckets and shovels, and observe all local mandated physical distancing measures while on site. Click here for more information. 

DEA National Take Back Event

Drive-Thru Pharmaceutical
Take-Back Event April 24th

The Woodland Police Department will be hosting a drive-thru Pharmaceutical Drug Take-Back Event on Saturday, April 24th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at 1000 Lincoln Ave in Woodland, CA. 

Over-the-counter or prescription pharmaceutical products including pills, capsules, and liquid products (cough syrup, etc.) will be accepted. Click here for more information.

City Rebates Update

Funding for Mulch, Rain Barrel and Weather-Based Irrigation Controller rebates has been exhausted. Funding for these rebates will renew on July 1. Purchase dates and applications must be submitted in the same fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Visit Envirowoodland.org/rebates for up-to-date information.
