Spring Cleaning? Dispose of Household Hazardous Waste for Free!

Household hazardous waste (HHW) items are illegal to throw away in the trash and can pollute our environment if disposed of improperly. All Yolo County residents can dispose of HHW items for free every Friday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Yolo County Central Landfill. Yolo County senior citizens and disabled residents may schedule a free pick up of HHW items. For more information, visit YoloCounty.org/Landfill.

Sustainability Advisory Committee

On March 5, the City Council created a new Sustainability Advisory Committee to help the City to achieve state mandated conservation goals and the goals of the City's Climate Action Plan and provide recommendations to the City Council regarding sustainability policy.

If you, or someone you know, would like to be considered for appointment to the Sustainability Advisory Committee or another advisory body, please visit the Boards and Commissions webpage for additional information. Recruitment for all advisory bodies ends on May 1, 2019.

Do you have unwanted medications at home? Drop them off for for safe and proper disposal during the DEA National Take-Back Event! This event is free to Woodland residents. For more information about this event and year-round disposal options, visit the cityofwoodland.org/HHW

Street Sweeping Truck

Improved Street Sweeping Service

Waste Management and the City of Woodland are working to improve the level of street sweeping services with larger, newer sweeping trucks that will do a better job cleaning the streets.

Schedules and rates will remain the same, and Waste Management will continue to field customer service calls. For more information, click here.

Bulky Waste Drop-Off Items

Bulky Waste Program During April

The free bulky waste drop off event now spans the entire month of April and will be located at the Yolo County Landfill. All Woodland residents received a voucher in the mail allowing free drop-off of one bulky waste load.

Please note: Landfill will be closed April 21 for Easter. This event is for Woodland residents within city limits only. 

Accepted Items:
Sofas, furniture, mattresses, large appliances, wood, and electronic waste (televisions, printers, computers, cell phones).

How much Can I Bring?
Residents can bring up to 5 cubic yards of bulky waste or the equivalent of a full-size pickup truck bed, a full size van, or a small trailer (less than 3 feet high and less than 8 feet long).

Residents must bring the voucher and proof of residence (recent utility bill, WM bill, driver’s license, etc.) to the landfill with the items they would like to dispose of.

Free Tire Amnesty Events

Yolo County residents can recycle their waste tires for FREE at these tire amnesty events in April:

    Esparto Recycling & Transfer Station

  • Saturday, April 27, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm
    Yolo County Central Landfill
    44090 County Rd 28H, Woodland

Open to all Yolo County residents. Proof of residency required. Limit 9 tires per vehicle without a permit. No business generated tires, heavy equipment, solid or foam tires, or tires with a diameter greater than 60 in.

To obtain a permit to haul up to 20 tires, contact Yolo County Environmental Health at (530) 666-8646.

Plant Sales at UC Davis Arboretum

Interested in reducing your outdoor water use with a water-wise yard? Visit the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden as they hold plant sale fundraisers in April and May. Come shop at their one-acre nursery filled with a variety of low-water, easy-care plants perfect for our region.
